1933-2016

Zelma Dellinger Montgomery York, 83, of Gastonia, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Mrs. York was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late Lee and Lela Dellinger.

Mrs. York retired from TiCaro, Rex #1 Plant, Ranlo. After retiring she worked at East Gaston High School in the cafeteria. She was an active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. York was a very active and vibrant lady who still cut her own grass until about 1 year ago. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed by many.

Mrs. York is survived by her two sons, Terry Montgomery and wife Barbara of Aiken, South Carolina, Robert Montgomery and wife Sally of Gastonia; two daughters, Fonda Denton and husband Ronnie of Gastonia, Heather Revis and husband Jack of Shelby; twin sister, Thelma Kovach of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Gretchen Pirko (Don), Lisa Montgomery (Dennis), Crystal Denton, Michael Denton (Holly), Erin Busch (David), Amanda Myers (Chris), Matthew Montgomery (Ashley), Ericka Spargo; eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, November 18th at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 3717 Hickory Grove Road, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Kinman officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly with the "Releasing of the Doves".

Mrs. York was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Herbert Montgomery; 2nd husband, Lawrence York; three brothers, L. B. Dellinger, Jr., Raymond Dellinger, Gene Dellinger.
