Dallas - Bill Ledford, 92, entered into heaven on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center, Lincolnton with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 2, 1926, in Spartanburg, South Carolina and was the son of the late Eulysses and Lillie Gibby Ledford.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by Rachel, his wife of 65 years; and 8 brothers and sisters.
Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II. He was a very active member of Dallas Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, delivering Meals on Wheels, walking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his son, Bryan Ledford; daughter Janice Philippi and husband, Dan; grandson, Lamar Ledford and wife, Mendy; grandson, Adam Ledford and wife, Carrie; granddaughter Amber Moon and husband, Ronnie; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Noah Ledford; and his many extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 16th, in the Dallas Baptist Church parlor. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Reverends Bill Abrams and Jack Bryant officiating.
Interment with Military Honors by Gaston Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Ledford, Lamar Ledford, Adam Ledford, Dan Philippi, Bill Trudnak, Will Trudnak, Ronnie Moon, and Honorary Pallbearer, Ronald Froneberger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dallas Baptist Church Care Ministry, 402 W. Trade Street, Dallas, NC 28034.
