Cramerton - Wilma Hawkins Newton, 89, passed away at Carillion Assisted Living, Cramerton with her loving family by her side. She was born in Danville, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Hutto Hawkins.
Mrs. Newton was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Mrs. Newton is survived her two daughters, Terry Vickers and husband Steve of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Pam Watwod and husband Tim of Gastonia; one granddaughter, Lauren Watwood Harpe and husband Will; one great granddaughter, Grace Jessann Harpe.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Whitener officiating.
Interment will be private for the family in Evergreen "A Quiet Place".
Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Riley "Buck" Newton; granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Vickers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to donors choice and/or Temple Baptist Church, 701 Little John Street, Gastonia, NC 28052.
