Gastonia- William Douglas Simmons, 54, passed away Saturday July 18, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Ernest L. and Blanche Simmons.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents and birth mother Betty Jo Reynolds Simmons.
He is survived by his sons: Doug and Bill Simmons, and his baby girl, Sarah Bumgarner;
daughters Christy Simmons Botts, Amy Simmons Tippett and
Misty Simmons Jackson,
Brothers: Ernie Simmons, Mike Simmons, Joe Simmons, and Randy Pearson, and Reggie Simmons
Sister: Kathy Burgin
four grandchildren Logan and Cooper Botts,
Bristol and Kansas Jackson.
Mother of his Children: Sharon Dominy Simmons
Aunt: Beverly Stroupe
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. The Family will receive friends an hour and a half prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God, 777 South Myrtle School Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052.
Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Rd. 704-864-5144 will be serving the Simmons family.
