GASTONIA - Retired U.S. Army Sergeant William Harry Green, 75, of 217 East 8th Avenue, died April 7, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Gaston County, born Sept. 29, 1933, to the late Noah Grayson Greene and Bertha Mae Fletcher Greene. He retired from the U.S. Army with more than 21 years of service. Harry was a very special uncle who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He loved life, family, and friends, playing golf, his dog Molly and most of all he loved the years that he spent serving our wonderful country. Special thanks to all of the gang at the Waffle House on Remount Road ? Harry loved all of you. He was preceded in death by Austin Grayson Greene, Kenneth Eugene Greene, Jerry Lee Greene, Johnny Robert Greene, Sr. Hilda Cloninger, Barbara Ann Williams Survivors include his niece and her husband, Tracy and Adrian Sanabia of Gastonia; great niece, Charlie Ann Sanabia; his brother-in-law, Butch Wil-liams of Gastonia; the love of his life, his golden retriever, Molly. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower Section with the Rev. Odell Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
