Maiden – Alvin "Wesley" Rose, Sr., 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Kingston, North Carolina on December 7, 1927 to the late Bertha Ellis and E.F. Rose, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Earl, Stanley and Eddie; sisters, Edna Mae Heffner, Dot Carter, Betty Lou Wilkinson and 1 great grandchild

Wesley was a member of First United Methodist Church Maiden. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran. Wesley was very active in the community throughout his lifetime. He was a former chairman of Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, former Scout Master, member of the American Legion and a Mason and former Radio Announcer for WNNC Newton.

Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife Sue Evatt Rose of the home and sons, Alvin Rose, Jr. (Cindy) of Hickory and Eddie Rose of Newton; and daughter, Allyson Rose of Maiden, NC; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild

A Celebration of life Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 303 North Main Avenue, Maiden, NC 28650 with Reverend Tony Jordan officiating with military honors provided by American Legion Post 48 of Hickory.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Interment will be private.
