Gastonia – Walter Lee Norville, 91, passed away November 10, 2022 at Accordius Health in Gastonia with his loving family by his side.
Walter was born in Lincoln County on August 8, 1931 to the late Grover and Lilly Norville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Crouse and Rosie Tolbert.
Walter was a veteran of the US Army. He was truly a man of God who loved his Lord and instilled the gift of faith in his children by teaching them to pray and know their Lord. Walter was faithful member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, listening to music, and driving. He leaves many happy memories to be cherished by his family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Nancy Woodall Norville; daughter, Juliana Norville; grandchildren, Jonathon Cheatle and Jennifer Price; and great-grandchildren, Avidan Price and Adlai Price, many nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 15, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel with Pastor Mike Criswell officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the funeral home for Nancy.
