Vernon Cedric Palm, 88, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Greenfield, NY, on November 20, 1936, to the late Charles Palm and Alice Seelow Palm. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Palm; sister, Irene Bills; and brother, Edward Palm.
Vern worked hard his whole life to support his family. While growing up in upstate New York, he worked odd jobs to help bring in income for his parents. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard Reserve. He went on to work as an electrical engineer repairing televisions and later developed several patents for nurse call systems while employed at Hill-Rom in Batesville, IN.
Vern enjoyed traveling with family, listening to live bluegrass music, NASCAR, and making his grandkids laugh. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his children, Melvin Palm (Patricia), Karlene Aubertine (Roger), Cheryal Young, Roxanna Crysler, Amy Griggs (Mike), and Amanda Coulter (James); brothers, John Palm and Paul Palm (Dorothy); 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life on Saturday, February 8th at 11 am at Gaston Christian Church, 5339 South New Hope Road, Belmont, North Carolina 28012, with Pastor Scott Patterson officiating.
