1941-2015
Gastonia- Troy Frank Chaffin, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Troy was born August 20, 1941, in Rogers, AK. to the late Troy Frank Chaffin, Sr., and Drucilla Lester Chaffin.
He had retired as a Math Instructor at Gaston College after 30 years in different positions.
He enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening and woodworking. He also liked taking pictures and learning anything to do with WWII and Civil War. Troy was a very smart man, often spending time on his computer and had taught himself to play the guitar and drums.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Troy is survived by his wife, Julia Pardue Chaffin; his daughters Jennifer Motes (Christopher) of Gastonia and Christina Kesler of Boone; grandchildren Loxley, Ethon, Teagan, Georgia, Tucker, Riley and Taylor.
A Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 14th at 3:00 p.m., at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home
Family will receive friends from 2:00 -3:00 pm prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Evergreen "A Quiet Place"
Memorials may be made to the Gaston College Scholarship Fund, 201 Hwy US 321 South, Dallas, NC 28034
