Tony Wheeler

Lowell – William Tony Wheeler, 69, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Gaston County, NC on March 4, 1953 to the late Fed Eugene Wheeler and Jacqueline Ruby Lucas Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fed Eugene Wheeler, Jr.

Tony was Valedictorian at McAdenville Elementary and Boy of the Year through the town of McAdenville. Salutatorian, and President of Student body at Holbrook High School where he played on the winning football team. He studied at Gaston College and received his computer engineering degree where he later taught computer classes at Gaston College. He retired from textiles as an industrial engineer. He enjoyed watching FOX-News with Greg Gutfeld. He enjoyed reading and was a big fan of the Carolina Tarheels and Carolina Panthers. He also enjoyed music of all kinds especially the Backstreet Boys

+ and N’SYNC. Tony liked golfing, gardening, and swimming in the pool.

Left to cherish Tony’s memory is his devoted wife of almost 47 years, Donna Campbell Wheeler; his loving daughters, Meagan Elizabeth Wheeler Lee and husband Michael; Kristen Wheeler Perrigo and husband Ross IV; grandchildren, Ella, Anna and Parker Lee, Ross Perrigo V; his brother, Kevin Wheeler and wife Karen; and his fur babies, Rudy and Gunnar.

A Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, July 21 at 4:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Frankie Isaac officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m., prior to the service.
