Thomas E. Walker

Gastonia-Thomas Eugene 'Gene' Walker, 78 of 2911 Fallswood Drive went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a native of Greenville, SC born March 10, 1933 to the late Fred and Mary Etta Walker.
He was a member of Friendly Baptist Church. His dedication of love for his family will long be remembered. He retired from Westvaco after 35 years of service and also retired from Freeman Containers after 10 years. He currently was employed at Crowders Creek recycling where he made a lot of friends whom he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister Irene Cloninger, sister Geraldine Maynard and brothers Fred and Charles Walker

Survivors include his wife of 52 1/2 years, Mary Owens Walker,
His sons David Walker and Danny Walker;
Daughters Terri McGregor, Melody Todd and Lisa Green;
Grandchildren: Shane Millwood, Wayne Millwood, David Eugene Walker, Jr., Michael Johnson, Randy Todd, Michael, Shane and James Green.
Great grandchildren Deon, Tammy, Trey, Dakota, Special granddaughter Wendi Michelle Walker; Special great Granddaughter whom he was raising Lacee Brianna Millwood; Brother Glenn Walker

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Sunday January 22 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 pm Monday, January 23at Friendly Baptist Church with Clergy Marshall Owens officiating

Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum
Pallbearers will be Shane Millwood, Wayne Millwood, David Walker Jr., Randy Todd , Michael Johnson and Jeffrey Walker
