Thomas "Tom" Ollen Hulcey, a renowned painter and beloved member of the community, passed away on November 6, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was an exceptional individual who left a lasting impact on the world through his talent and dedication to his craft.
Born on May 2, 1945, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Tom's passion for painting developed at an early age and would become the focal point of his life. With unwavering commitment and an artistic vision that was unmatched, he rose to become recognized as the Best Paintings contractor in the area. Tom was particularly known for his expertise in industrial painting, a testament to his incredible skill.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom dedicated himself to serving others. For over 22 years, he proudly served as the President of the Paintings Contractors and Decorators Association (PCDA). His leadership and guidance were instrumental in shaping the industry and elevating standards. Through this role, Tom exemplified professionalism and inspired others through his tireless efforts.
Tom's strong faith in God defined him as a person. He was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. His love for the Lord and commitment to his church community demonstrated his profound spirituality.
In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed spending quality moments with family and friends. These cherished times allowed him to create lasting memories filled with joy and laughter. His genuine love for those close to him undoubtedly touched their lives deeply.
Tom now joins his parents, John Hulcey and Helen Ervin Hulcey; sons, Tom Hulcey Jr., and John Hulcey Sr.; siblings, Don Hulcey, Jerry Autry, Barbara Jean Autry, and Tenie Blackwood in eternal peace. Their fond memories will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Tom leaves behind a loving son, Shane Hulcey, and his fiancée April Brank. He was a dedicated and caring father, and his presence will be sorely missed by Shane. Tom also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Joh Hulcey Jr., Priscilla Hulcey, and Ashley Mace. They will forever carry the love and guidance he shared with them throughout their lives.
Sharing in the loss of this remarkable man are his brother David Hulcey and sister Faye Hulcey. Their bond as siblings provided Tom with a strong support system throughout his life, nurturing relationships that brought him immense joy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 11th , 2023, at Woodlawn Baptist Church located at 1101 N Main St, Lowell, NC 28098
Tom was a talented painter whose works brought beauty to the world around him. His artistic legacy will continue to inspire future generations of painters. More than that, he was a devoted family man whose love knew no bounds.
As we bid farewell to Tom, let us remember him for the immense impact he had on our lives. May his memory live on in our hearts forever.
