Tom Bumgarner
1930-2014
Dallas – Thomas Leroy Bumgarner, 84, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014 at Robin Johnson House surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gaston County on May 12, 1930 to the late Edgar Ross and Johnnie Mae Flowers Bumgarner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Ruby Bumgarner and brother Joe Bumgarner
Tom was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He later was employed by Southern Bell where he worked in marketing for many years before retiring in 1983. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of First ARP Presbyterian Church in Gastonia. Tom loved golfing, drop fishing, singing and traveling. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lorene Gribble Bumgarner,
daughters; Debbie Ware and husband, Jim of Gastonia; Sheila Holland and husband, David of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren; Loren Radford and husband David, Whitney Ware, Christy Shaver and husband Bryan, Aleshia Holland; great grandchildren; Gracie and Annabelle Radford; Makayla Holland and Madison Shaver; Brother; Jim Bumgarner (Jane) of Stanley; Sisters; Faye Bynum (Hoyt) of Iron Station and Sandra Tate (Dean) of Gastonia
Funeral Service will be Sunday, December 28th at 3:00 pm, First ARP Presbyterian Church, 317 S. Chester Street, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Matt Kuiken officiating.
Visitation will be 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service.
