Belmont - "Terry" Ann Swayney Armstrong, 72, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. Terry was born in Gaston County on April 5, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Paul Henry and Addie Belle White Swayney.
Terry was a graduate of Belmont High School and graduated from Gaston College with an Associate Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from Courtland Terrace after 23 years.
Terry was a Life Member of Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a devoted member. She was a member of the WMU and held many positions in the Church. She was a passionate and knowledgeable Sunday School Teacher for the Adults for many years until her health declined.
Terry was a loving daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and a friend to everyone she met. She had a smile that could melt your heart. She will truly be missed.
Terry leaves to cherish her memories, her loving, devoted and best "Buddy", her husband of 52 years, Hayes Armstrong; daughter, Tracy Pate and husband Neil of Belmont; son, Douglas Armstrong and wife Veronica of Gastonia; four grandchildren, Michael Armstrong and wife Haley, Kathryn Pate, Will Pate, Avery Pate; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church, 152 North Main Street, Cramerton with Reverend Danielle Hammett and Reverend Laura Auten officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the Celebration of Life Service.
Interment will be prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Gaston Memorial Park with Reverend Olin Byrum officiating with the Releasing of the Doves.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christopher Keith Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 or Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 446, Cramerton, North Carolina 28032.
