Ted William Kennedy, 72, beloved son, husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born in Stanley on October 21, 1948 and is the son of the late Willis T. Kennedy and Alma Small Kennedy Homesley.
Ted was a graduate of Stanley High School and attended Gaston College. He is the owner of Sapphire Bay Car Wash and K & K Builders and a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Charlotte. He loved to travel and work and work hard.
Ted loved his family and was a loving son, husband, father, brother and grandfather and will truly be missed by so many.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Judy Cody Kennedy; four daughters, Lisa Kennedy (Alyson), Lori Bush (Rocky), Leslie Watts, Karen Johnson; one son, Alan Marr (Joyce); one sister, Violet Hawks; two brothers, Anthony "Tony" Kennedy (Linda), Roger Kennedy (Bonnie); nine grandchildren, Joshua Willis, Christopher Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Justin Hight, Alyssa Kennedy, Haley Rose Bush, Cameron Marr, Bree Marr, Christian Marr; special friend, Peggy Causby.
Ted will lie in state at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family will not be present.
The family will receive family and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. John Cody and Pastor Gary Berry officiating.
Pallbearers will be Art Riddle, Lenard Waldroup, Jeff Waldroup, Micah Peeler, Joey Brown, Ted Lastinger.
Due to the Covid Pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required.
Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to: Care and Share Ministries, 2831 Sexton Road, York, South Carolina 29745.
