Gastonia – Talley Carpenter Smith, 76, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in Burke County to the late George and Pauline Garrou Carpenter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harlan "Bosh" Smith.
Talley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. Talley enjoyed spending time with her friends, and was a very giving person. She retired as a school secretary.
Left to cherish her memories include her son George David Smith (Tamela), and daughter, Jennifer Smith; grandson John David Smith (Amanda); sister in law, Mary Ann "Aunt Buggy" Ahearn; and a close dear friend Brock Smith.
A Celebration of life Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend Patricia Bivens and Reverend Mathew Morris a reception to follow in the family life center.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sherry McKenzie, Shelba Shellman, Annette Carrigan, Janet Green, Mary Alice Holland, Gayle Warren and Barbara Rankin.
Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20th at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Gethsemane section
