Dallas- Puett Franklin 'Sonny' Avery, 86 passed away peacefully September 6, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Gaston County, born April 29, 1926 to the late Rufus Isaac and Emma Halloway Avery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sarah 'Sadie' Mays
He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran; he attended Dallas Church of God
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Cudd Avery;
his children, Randy Avery and wife Connie of Gastonia, Pam Adams of Dallas; Grandsons, Hal Avery and wife Maida, and Chris Adams; Great Grandson, Matthew Avery
Several nieces and nephews
Celebration of life service will be 2:00pm, Monday, September 10 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel R Shortridge officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service
Interment will be private
