1945-2017
Sharon Atchley Atkins, 71, formerly of Cherryville, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice of Newton, North Carolina with her loving family by her side. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Dale and Nora Nuchols Atchley.
Mrs. Atkins was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister
Mrs. Atkins is survived by two sons, Steve Atkins, Jr. (Robin), Frank Atkins (Lynn) both of Cherryville; one daughter, Kimberly Faulkner (Todd) of Granite Falls, North Carolina; one sister, Vickie Johnson (Steve) of Knoxville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Mauney (Jeff), Justin Faulkner, Michael Faulkner, Brittany Smart, Marie Logan (Alan), Ashley Atkins, Jenna Motley; 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10: 00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Holtsclaw and Rev. Bob Hedgepath officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don S. Atkins, Sr., one brother, Dale "Tody" Atchley, Jr.; two sisters, Joyce Green, Charlotte Atchley.
Memorials may be made to Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church, 318 S. Ballard Street, Cherryville, North Carolina 28021.
