Gastonia – Mrs. Sarah Artense Lanning Warnock, 103 passed away peacefully on August 10, 2017 at Alexandria Place.
She was born November 12, 1913 in Hendersonville, NC, the daughter of the late Dock Franklin Lanning and Lular Jane Lanning.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Howard Warnock; sisters, Effie Poole, Quartez Hammond, Lillie Duncan and brother, Foy Lanning; grandson, Jonathan David Warnock; great grandson, James David Hicks.
Mrs. Warnock retired in 1994 after working many years in men's alterations with various department stores (Efird's Department Store, Belk Department Store and J.C. Penny).
Sarah was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed! She was a member of the Lowell Church of God. Mrs. Warnock was a seamstress and a homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, David Edwin Warnock and wife Phyllis; Sarah Ellen Warnock Hester and husband J. Herman; Joseph Alvin Warnock; Paul Franklin Warnock and wife Patricia; James Alton Warnock and wife Marilyn and Stephen Archie Warnock and wife Sandy;
Grandchildren, Karen Hicks and husband Barry; Kristin Harrington and husband Mike; Kimberly Huffstetler; Kent Hester; Bryon Warnock and wife Deena; Monty Warnock and wife Jada; Alana Sosebee and husband Gerald; Beth Howard; Cheryl Borchardt and husband Steven; Katie Glyn Nettles and husband Brian;
Great-Grandchildren, Hannah Braddock and husband Austen; Claire Hicks; Rebekah and Colin Harrington; Heather, Lauren and Jenna Huffstetler; Taylor McConnell, Jacob and Adam Warnock; Madison and Abby Warnock; Sarah Sosebee; Kacee Griffin; Sumner Howard; Landon, Isaac, Leah and Marah Borchardt; MS Nettles; DJ Nettles and GG Nettles;
sister-in-law, Lucile Warnock Kulwich and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m., prior to the service with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Lowell Church of God, 804 West First Street, Lowell, North Carolina with Reverend Joe Heffner, Reverend Joel Shores, Reverend Paul Collins and Reverend Roger Wentz.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Hillcrest I section
Pallbearers will be Bryon Warnock, Monty Warnock, Jacob Warnock, Kent Hester, Barry Hicks, Mike Harrington and honorary pallbearer, Colin Harrington.
Memorials may be made to Lowell Church of God and flowers are accepted.
