Dallas- Sarah Elizabeth Avery Mays, 87, of 214 South College Street, went home to be with the Lord May 25, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was loved dearly by her children and grandchildren
She was a native of Gaston County, born October 3, 1922 to the late Rufus Isaac and Emma Holloway Avery. She worked at Wix Corp for over 25 years. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forney David 'Bud' Mays, her son-in-law, Ronnie Grant
Survivors include her children: Mark David Mays and wife Nancy of Dallas;
Sandy Mays Grant of Gastonia
Grandchildren: Shannon Smith and husband Mike, Monda Mays, Michelle McGee and husband Jason, Jonathan Grant and wife Ashleigh, and Evie Grant
Great Grandchildren: Savannah Hunt, Avery Grant, Eli Grant and Annabelle Grant
Brother, Sonny Avery of Dallas and half sister Ellen Hoffman of Gastonia
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Parkwood Baptist Church with Reverend Vernon Carter officiating
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home
Interment will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery
