Southport, NC, Sarah Anderson Grigg, 86, formerly of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2014 at Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, NC
Sarah was born August 25, 1927 in Bessemer City, N.C., and attended high school in Swannanoa, N.C. She lived and worked most of her life in Gastonia, helping others through health care. She provided nursing care at Gaston Memorial Hospital, N.C. Orthopedic Hospital, Gaston Lincoln Mental Health Respite Care Facility, and Covenant Village Nursing Center. Throughout her career, Sarah completed many training courses to ensure the best quality care for her patients, including being certified in Practical Nursing by the American Institute of Practical Nursing, Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of Bethlehem Church, Gastonia
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Hayes Anderson; a son Galen Price; two sisters, Helen King and Norma Williams; and two brothers, Frank and Lloyd Anderson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Price of Southport, N.C.; brothers, Robert Anderson of Gastonia and Donald Anderson of Maiden; and granddaughter, Melissa Price of Arlington, Va.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Dickie Spargo officiating. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
