Gastonia-Sara Moretz Ratchford,73 died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her daughters residence.
She was a native of Gaston County, born September 17, 1936 to the late William Paul and Mary Sue Best Moretz. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church. She was a 1954 graduate of Tryon High School where she was valedictorian and a 1956 graduate of Sacred Heart College, Belmont. Sara was former Owner & Operator of Lewis Florist., Gastonia for many years. Sara worked for Experience Works and later Winston Salem Urban Legion as a Senior Employment Specialist for SCSEP Employment Program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Huffstetler Ratchford, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Black and husband Gerry of Gastonia; One Brother, William Moretz and wife Ann of Bessemer City; Five nieces and nephews
Family will receive friends 10:00 until 11:00 Saturday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Rd prior to the service.
Graveside services will follow at 11:30 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Union Presbyterian Church cemetery with Dr. Jim Cockerham officiating
