Gastonia – Sara King Barker, 58 passed away October 11, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Rock Hill, SC on June 6, 1956 to the late Thomas and Lavinia Hick King.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Betty King and Margaret Lynch.
Sara was a member of Generation Church. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Kenneth "Firestone" Barker; daughter, Catherine Duncan and husband Tim; sons, Kenneth Barker, II and wife Lelia; Jamey Deal and wife Sandy, sisters, Debbie Deal and husband Steve; Linda Bradley and husband Merv, and Libby Weckessner; 11 grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Service will be 2 pm Wednesday, October 15th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Russell and Rev. Luke Barker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14th from 7- 9:00 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
Interment will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Westview Gardens following the 2 pm service.
