Gastonia - Sandra "Sandy" Leigh Green Whitson, 56, entered into Heaven on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Columbus, Mississippi and was the daughter of the late David and Mittie Hoyle Green.
Sandra was a graduate of Bessemer City High School in 1980 and was a self employed Beautician. She was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church, Cherryville where she sang in the choir.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 34 years, Scott L. Whitson; one son, Andrew Scott Whitson of Gastonia and his fiancé, Jennifer Guthrie of Bessemer City; one brother, David Anthony Green and wife Jackie of Lenoir; one sister, Julie Chapman and husband Jeremy of Dallas,Texas; father-in-law, Raymond Whitson of Gastonia; sister-in-law, Joanie Farr and husband Joe of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; nieces, Emily Farr, Briana Mayhall; nephews, Jake Farr, David Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Bean officiating.
Interment will follow at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
