Samuel Lee Ownsby, 48, passed away at his residence on September 2, 2024. 

 

He was born in Gaston County on September 25, 1975, to Audy Ownsby and Elizabeth Bates. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Lee Ownsby. 

 

Samuel was an eccentric and creative person who could tinker and invent anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his son Harley. Samuel was a Belmont boy through and through and was well-known and respected in his community. He leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him. 

 

In addition to his parents, Audy Ownsby and Elizabeth Bates, he is survived by his son, Harley Ownsby; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

 

Family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont - Mount Holly Road, Belmont NC 28012. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Bryan Ledford and Cody Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
