DALLAS — Della Ruth "Ruthie" Holland, 68, of Pittsboro, N.C., joined our heavenly Father peacefully on Sept. 27, 2016, at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
She was born in Gaston County on Sept. 5, 1948, to the late Claudius Daniel and Faye McGee Holland.
Ruth grew up in Dallas and moved to Pittsboro, North Carolina as a young adult; where she worked at a Learning Center for over 40 years. She spent a lifetime devoted to loving, caring for and educating other people's children. Ruth will be remembered as a devoted caregiver and very special loving person to many. She was a blessing to hundreds of children and a blessing to all who knew and loved her!
Left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Jackie Holland Carpenter (Dean), Jane Holland Alvarado (Manuel) and Blair Holland Montgomery (Paul); her stepfather, Emmons Murphy; nieces, Anna Carpenter McCarter, Beth Lafferty; nephews, Adrian Carpenter, Josh Montgomery, Chris Montgomery and Tony Alvarado; aunt, Vicky Homesley; devoted cousins, Ginny and Kevin Condrey, Lorri and Ken Payne, Martin Holland and Nicholas Holland III and many other cousins whom she loved dearly.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dallas Baptist Church, 407 West Trade Street, Dallas.
Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Dallas Baptist Church with the Rev. Barron W. Lee officiating.
Pallbearers will be Adrian Carpenter, Josh Montgomery, Chris Montgomery, Gene McCarter, Clayton Condrey and Jackson Payne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Condrey and Ken Payne.
Interment will be at Long Creek Cemetery, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abby Grace Foundation, Post Office Box 1023, Dallas, NC 28034 and/or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
