Ruby Lee H McMahan

September 7, 1923 — May 21, 2012

Dallas-Ruby Lee Heaton McMahan, formerly of Florida went home to be with the Lord May 21, 2012 at the Robin Johnson House.
She was a native of College Grove, Tennessee, born September 7, 1923 to the late Francis Heaton and Josephine Haynes Heaton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter Otha McMahan, her sisters Mary Whitlock, Frances Grey and Eunice Crafton and a brother James Heaton and Frances Grey.
Miss Ruby leaves a legacy of hard, diligent work and generosity toward all she met, her creative skills of sewing and other finger works to make this world a better place. Over 28 years Ruby's Fittings and Alterations produced many professional garments to be fitted and tailored for business clients of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. A full life but not an easy one, she possessed a strong charismatic and magnetic personality and never met a stranger. Her saying was 'Sometimes, you have to make your own party'. through hard times and sad times, she lived that anecdote her entire life. For those who did not know her you missed a great blessing. Once a decision was made she never looked back. She was a member of the Gaston Avenue Church of God since 1940.


Survivors include her daughters, Sandra McMahan Smith of the home;
Evelyn McMahan (James) Carver of Gastonia;
Grandchildren, Michael Sean Beaty, Dana Walter Smith and wife Denise, Joy Lee Smith and Jason Lyndsey Smith and wife Shannon all of Gastonia;

Five Great Grandchildren, Cameron, Seanna, and Hunter Beaty, Carter Smith and Amber Smith;
Three Great Great Grandchildren, Breahna and Trayven Grier and Asia Brooks.
Sisters Irene Crafton and of Franklin, TN and Virginia McMahan of Knoxville, VA;
Numerous wonderful Nieces and Nephews
The family will receive 3:00 until 4:00pm, Wednesday, May 23 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
A Celebration of Life will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, May 23
Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel
Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia with the Releasing of the Doves Memorials may be made to the Robin Johnson House c/o Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054
