GASTONIA – Roxie Jane Helms Thomas, 92, went to heaven July 26, 2014.
She was born November 28, 1921 in Union County, daughter of the late Floyd and Cornelia Helms.
Roxie was a loving woman who enjoyed being with her family. She will be remembered for her gentleness and the special things she did for her family. Her family will miss the special meals of chicken and dumplings and her biscuits.
Roxie is survived by her sons, David Thomas and wife, Pam; Ricky Thomas and wife Cathy of Gastonia; six grandchildren, David Watkins and wife, Sharon, Wendi Taylor and husband, Terry, Tony Watkins and wife, Crystal, Aimee Howard and husband, Eric, Andrea Henry, Jared Thomas and wife, Lindsay; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dot Phifer, Juanita Aldridge, Ginnie Watkins; brother, Thomas Helms.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Cleveland (TC) Thomas; daughter, Martha Thomas Ervin; brother, Craven Helms; sister, Agnes Griffin.
Roxie retired from Burlington Industries. She was a long time active member of West Cramerton Baptist Church, 5006 Wilkinson Blvd. where visitation will be held one hour before the Celebration of Life Service at 1 pm July 29, 2014.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
