Gastonia - Ronnie Lee Payne, 79 passed away peacefully on March 19, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on May 22, 1938 to the late Clarence Payne and Ruth Robinson Norkett.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed softball and was a member of the Moose lodge. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his many friends (the liars group) at FRIENDS in Belmont.
He retired in textile machinery.
Left to cherish his memories includes wife of 44 years, Aretha Marr Payne;
his children, Todd Lee Payne, Jada (Doug) Cron, Jackie (Kevin) Berryman, Jessica Payne; grandchildren, Kelly and Christopher Payne, Spencer and Sarah Cron, Corbin and Keaton Berryman; great grandson, Jaxon Brown; brother, Doug Robinson, sisters Alice Rushing, Linda Mullis, Margaret Owens, Kathy Layne, Debbie Caldwell and Rachel Koehler
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22nd at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
