Ron J. Smith

Gastonia-James Ronald 'Ron'Smith, 66 of Gastonia passed away December 22, 2011.
He was a native of Gaston County, born October 3, 1945 to Rosa Looper Smith and the late James Junior Smith.

Ron was a graduate of Ashley High School; he worked at Industrial Truck for over 25 years and currently part time at the Sportsman, Rock Hill

He served in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a lifetime member of the VFW post 9337. Ron was an avid hunter and enjoyed archery, racing and riding his motorcycle and most of all his animals Harley and Sissy .

Survivors include his mother Rosa Looper Smith; his sisters Suzie Fore and husband Rodney; and Rebekah Angley all of Gastonia; special niece Kecia Fore of Gastonia; Aunts Gladys Lee and Glenda Looper;
Special Cousins Chip and Scott Looper

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Lawing officiating.
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00pm Monday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and other times at his mother's at 4005 Windwood Drive, Gastonia
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with Military honors by The Gaston County Honor Guard
