Gastonia- Roberta Auten Simpson, 87, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Gaston County, NC on December 22, 1927 to the late Martin Thomas and Sara Emma Henderson Auten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Auten
and sisters, Rosie Milliken, Ruby Hannah and Ruth Myers.

She was a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother. She first loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Roberta was a faithful and supportive member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was very close to and loved her brothers and sisters dearly.


Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Robert Simpson, Sr.; son Robert "Robbie" Simpson, Jr. and wife Kathy of Gastonia; Grandsons, Robert Chad Simpson of Gastonia and Michael Todd Simpson of New York; brother, Roy Auten and wife Evelyn;
sister, Rita Simms
and several nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 12th at 2:00 pm at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Brown officiating.

Family will receive friends on Monday, May 11th 6-8 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery
