Robert Thomas (Tommy) Lytton, Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina formerly of Gastonia, passed away peacefully in his sleep October 17, 2010. He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Charles Robert and Louise Johnson Lytton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Thornburg Lytton and his dog Weatherby, as well as his father, Charles Robert Lytton and mother, Louise Johnson Lytton.
Tommy loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid sportsman, fishing all over the world as well as hunting throughout the US and Canada. He achieved many citations for fishing and completed his last dream of a Black Marlin in 2005.
Tommy graduated from Gaston College and served as a Captain on the Gaston County Police Department. He retired after 29 years of service.
His kindness and generosity will be missed by many friends in Gastonia, Dallas and Ocean Isle.
He is survived by his daughter Shannon Ray and her husband Alan of Mount Holly, and grandson Devin, who affectionately called him 'Pop Pop'. He also leaves a sister, Charlene Lewis and husband Gene of Nashville, NC , nephew Jeff Lewis and wife Linda, niece Lisa Skinner and husband Leon
and great-nephew Preston.
The visitation will be on Thursday evening 6pm until 8:30.
The funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00pm, October 22, 2010 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel
Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Dallas
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 23rd at 1:30 pm at Williamson Chapel in Ocean Isle, NC.
