Belmont- Robert "Bobby" George Hooper, 69, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Gainesville, Texas on October 25, 1946 and the son of Dorothy Schuhmann Hooper and the late Hilton Hooper.

Bobby was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly! He was a former resident of Cramer Mountain. Bobby loved golfing with his buddies in North Carolina, Texas and all over the world. He loved boating and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loved birds and loved a good project, any project!
He loved his family and friends; loved his dog "Tex" and now his new dog "Sam". Bobby was a US Army Veteran Special Forces and served during Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam, Bobby was a POW.

He was a mason and a member of the Scottish Rites. Bobby worked as a project director and international consultant for many years.

Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of 36 years, Kathy Rives Hooper;
His mother, Dorothy Schuhmann Hooper of Cushing, Texas; 5 sons, Pete Hooper and wife Amy of Needville, TX; Joe Hooper of Lafayette, Louisiana; Jake Hooper and Zach Hooper of Cramerton; Howard Smith and wife Jennifer of Charlotte; brother, Fred Hooper and wife Joyce of Cushing, TX; sisters, Cynthia Combs and Priscilla Malone of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren, Ashton Hooper, Faith Hooper and Hope Hooper

A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20th at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Gastonia with Father Shawn Griffin officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard.

Family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall

Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565
