Gastonia- Robert Eugene Branton, 86, passed away October 16, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born July 21, 1927 in Swain County to the late James L. Branton and Ollie Laws Branton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Violet Palmer.
Robert had retired from Textiles. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and was a veteran in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Doris Coleman Branton
Son, Michael Branton and wife, Janet Cloninger Branton
Daughter, Hazel Branton Roberts and husband Roger Roberts
Grandchildren, Amy Mitchell and husband Brian; Kevin Branton and wife Candace; Stacy Yarbrough and husband Dan; Jacob and Justin Roberts
Great Grandchildren, Luke Mitchell, Drew Mitchell and Elizabeth Branton
Sisters, Lessie Henderson, Bessie Biggerstaff, and Nellie Ruth Murphy
The family will receive friends Friday October 18, 2013 from 1:00pm until 2:30 pm at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:30 pm at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Hensley officiating.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, with Military Honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
