Gastonia-Robert Alexander "Bob" Spencer, 84 of Gastonia passed away peacefully Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Carillion Assisted Living, Cramerton.
He was a native of Gaston County, born November 25, 1928 to the late Elmer and Eleanor Alexander Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Thelma Hoffman, Iris Willcox and Margaret Dutton.
Bob was a member of the Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church.
He had retired at the age of 55 from Duke Power with over 35 years of service: after retiring he enjoyed working in his garden, and growing tomatoes. Bob and Faye also enjoyed traveling. He also was a big fan of Nascar Racing often going to many races, and he enjoyed his life spending many hours in his shop.
Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Faye Marshall Spencer, a brother Lewis Spencer and wife Beatrice of Shelby, sister Jean Hudspeth of Clover, SC; Numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Reece officiating.
Private interment will follows at Pisgah ARP Cemetery
