Gastonia – Robert Marion "Bob" Meadows, 82, of Gastonia, NC passed away peacefully on April 14, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Buncombe County, on March 25, 1932 to the late George Franklin Meadows, Sr.
And Julia Hinkle Meadows.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother George Franklin Meadows, Jr.;
and a sister Ann McJunkin
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob was a lover of new technology and enjoyed watching the birds. Bob was a graduate of University of Tennessee; he loved all Tennessee sports and was an avid VOLS fan. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had retired from Hotel Management with over 45 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sylvia Burchett Meadows;
a daughter Caroline Moon and husband Scott; two grandchildren Abbey and Alex Moon;
and his loving dog Rusty, and a brother-in-law Larry Burchett and wife Dorothy
A Celebration of his life service will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, April 17th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Vanderbilt officiating and with Military Honors by The Gaston County Honor Guard to follow
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made The Cove at Bethlehem Church, 3100 Bethlehem Church Street, Gastonia, NC 28056
