Robert Lloyd Alwran
1920-2018
Stanley – Robert Lloyd Alwran, 98 passed away peacefully on December 23, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House with his loving family by his side.
Lloyd was born in Monroe, North Carolina on April 20, 1920 to the late Robert Harley Alwran and Pearl Avery Alwran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Dorothy Williams "Dot" Alwran; his daughter and son-in-law Darleen Alwran Webb and Jerry; his brothers, Raymond Alwran, Archie Bald Alwran, and Wayne Alwran.
Mr. Alwran was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Last Man's Club. He was also a member of First Baptist Church, Stanley and loved his church. He enjoyed eating out and family dinners on Sunday. Lloyd liked to travel with his family and work in his yard. He and his wife Dot were co-owners of Stanley Narrow Fabric's, Discwax Incorporation and Royal Cordage and American Cord Twine.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly A. Coleman and husband Joe, Sheila A Addington and husband Ken; grandchildren Leslie Long, Stacie Barber, Jeremy Webb, Dorothy Leigh Coleman, Victoria Lynn Coleman, Aaron Addington and Kathryn A Kirby; and a brother, John Alwran.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m., Sunday, December 30th prior to the 3:00 p.m., Celebration of Life service at the First Baptist Church, Stanley with Reverend Dr. Tony Fulbright officiating.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Gardens with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Webb, Lynn Coleman, Pete Alwran, Tim Chaney, Kyle Newton and Blain Alwran. Honorary pallbearer will be Aaron Addington.
