Gastonia – Richard Armas Anderson, 79, passed away on June 4, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Hospice in Huntersville surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 21, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Wayne and Gertrude Anderson.

Richard was known for his amazing custom birdhouses that he built for specific birds and he was an expert on birds. He and Sandra would sell them at the OMB Christmas Market in Charlotte every year and would sell out early. He was a big fan of the Detroit Redwings and he himself played hockey throughout his childhood and high school. Richard was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing on Lake Wylie. He leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Sandra Crawford Anderson; step-son, Rob Crawford (Marie); step-daughter, Heather Luke (Joel); step-grandchildren, Chrystal, Robert, Hannah, and John; step-great-grandchildren, Eli, Aaron, Christian, Lane, Ainsleigh, and Adaleigh.

All services will be private.
