Reverend Larry McAllister

Reverend Robert Larry McAllister, 76, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his residence in Vale, North Carolina on June 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. 

Born on March 30, 1948, in Clarksville, Georgia, Robert led a fulfilling life marked by his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. His commitment to his country was exemplary and reflected his deep sense of duty and honor.

Robert was known for his loving and kind personality, a trait that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He found joy in simple pleasures such as playing golf and restoring old cars. These hobbies were not just pastimes for him but sources of immense happiness and relaxation. 

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Robert's proudest achievements revolved around his family bonds which he held dear to his heart. His faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering and he was pastor at Davis Memorial Baptist Church for many years.

 Surrounded by his family during his final moments, Robert McAllister departed from this world leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He will forever be remembered for the love he showered upon his wife of 56 years, Dianne Parker McAllister; his devoted children, Dwayne McAllister (Monica), Billy McAllister (Ellen), and Angel Hoffman (Darrell); grandchildren Kaela, Christian, Cassidy, Chloe, Parker, and Lilly-Joe; great-grandchildren Isla, Kaivs, Ashtian, Landyn, and Eva-Jane.

In addition to his immediate family members, Robert is survived by sisters Cathy McAllister and Betty Sanders. He was predeceased by his parents Robert Lee McAllister and Mary Geanette Palmer McAllister as well as brothers Jerry, O'Neal, Reggie, Ricky, Reeves McAllister.

Visitation services will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5th  at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia on June 5^th, 2024 at 2:00p.m.,Wednesday  with Pastor Gary Teague. The burial will take place at Hollywood Cemetery with the releasing of the doves.

Pallbearers will be Billy McAllister, Dwayne McAllister, Christian McAllister, Michael McAllister, Parker Williams Darrell Hoffman.

Larry may have departed from this Earth but he leaves behind an indelible mark of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
