Gastonia – Regina Elizabeth Hyde Willis, 95, of 1717 Union Road, formerly of Carmel Drive, Gastonia died September 4, 2018 at Brookdale-Union surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Robbinsville, NC to the late Robert Virgil Hyde and Thelma Hooper Hyde.
Regina was retired from JC Penney at Eastridge Mall. She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. She loved her church family and was so blessed by all the friends that would visit with her.
In her addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Grover Willis; sister, Doris Godwin and brothers, Reid Hyde and Phillip Hyde.
Regina is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dolores "Dee" and John "Zip" Love Jr., of Gastonia; sister, Hazel Hayes of Gastonia; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy Collins (Earl) of Robbinsville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8th prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m., at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Mr. David L. Payseur officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Prayer A section with the releasing of the doves.

To the staff of Brookdale-Union (formerly Gaston Manor), current and past, a very heartfelt and loving thank you for all the love and care shown to Regina. She had lived there 17 years and met a lot of people who were so good to her. A special thank you also to Tara Wilkerson, Tracey Bratton and Detra Rice from Gaston Hospice for taking such good care of Regina - you were all so loving and supportive. Also a special thank you to a wonderful friend, Mildred Barrett for the countless hours she kept Dee company over the past weeks.
