Gastonia: Reginald "Reggie" Evans Davis, 80, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gastonia on June 5, 1941, and is the son of the late Howard and Alma Pope Davis.

Reggie was a graduate of Ashley High School Class of 1959. The summer following graduation, Reggie married Esther (Love) Davis (who passed away in 2014). He began his career as a surveyor for the City of Gastonia. Once completing his degree in Civil Engineering from Gaston College (1974), he became an Engineer for the City of Gastonia. He completed his 44-year career at the City of Gastonia as one of the Assistant City Engineers. He is a member of Southminster Church, Gastonia.

He was an airplane enthusiast. Reggie attended many air shows throughout the country. He built several remote-controlled airplanes and learned to fly and owned an ultralight aircraft. In addition to airplanes, he loved photography from family snapshots to nature.

Most importantly, Reggie loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. At many family gatherings, these grandchildren had his utmost attention.

Reggie is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Jan Proctor and her daughter, Natalie Granberry; one son, Scott Davis, and wife, Marsha, and one daughter, Beth Davis; daughter-in-law, Robyn Davis; 8 grandchildren, Beau, Leslie, Adam, Anna, Matthew, Audrey, Kathryn, and Benjamin; 1 great-grandchild, Reed.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Southminster Church, 1401 Hoffman Road, Gastonia with Pastor Dan Oedy officiating.

The family will receive family and friends following the Memorial Service in the Sanctuary of Southminster Church. Inurnment will be private and at a later date.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Esther (Love) Davis; son, Timothy Davis; granddaughter, Grace Davis.
