Raymond Mitchell Elliott

Gastonia – Raymond Mitchell Elliott, 79, passed away on April 2, 2023.

He was born in Gaston County on March 8, 1944 to the late Elisha Joe Elliott and Hattie Mae Davis Elliott. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary David Elliott and sister, Ruth Elliott Whitson.

Raymond retired from Burlington Industries with over 33 years of service. Ray also served in the US Army where he spent time in Germany. He was an avid fisherman, belonging to the Alexis Bass Masters. He enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, and his two new great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sara Neil Elliott; sons, Neil Elliott (Erica),David Elliott (Amy), Mike Elliott (Barbara); daughter, Hope Elliott Cloninger; grandchildren, Ashley Weatherston (Cory), Austin Cloninger, Hannah Elliott (Cephas), Preston Elliott, Clay Elliott (Cassidy), Pierston Elliott, Alyssa Elliott (Trae), Sierra Garcia (Lee), and Logan Bunting; great-grandchildren, Felix Evans and Willow Weatherston; brother, Ronnie Elliott (Rhonda); sister, Carolyn Lingerfelt; many nieces and nephews; and his Alexis Bass Masters Buddies.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
