Gastonia-Rev. Ray Harold Barker, 65, of 602 Castlewood Drive, Gastonia went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
He was loved dearly by his family and friends
He was a native of York County, SC, born July 4, 1944 to the
late Jack and Ruby Jenkins Barker. Ray was a Minister who loved serving God and ministering to people. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a security guard, a volunteer with the food ministry for New Covenant Church and member of Riverwood Worship Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Troy Barker and
a sister, Mildred Cozette Wells
Survivors include his children: Ray and Christine Barker, Jamie Dulin, Jimmy and Johnny Coleman; special family friend, Derek Hyatt
Grandchildren: Donovan and Nevaeh Coleman
Brothers and Sisters: Bill Barker, Roy and Vickie Barker,
Kenneth and Sara Barker, Luke 'Cannie' and Rae Barker,
Pauline and Jack Evans, Vivian and Jerry Wilson, Letha and Steve Shaw, Augusta and James Farr, Patsy and Danny Neitzold,
Cindy and Roger Gantt
A number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
A home coming celebration will be 11:00 am, Friday, February 5, 2010 at Riverwood Worship Center with Rev. Ben Smith, Rev. Tim Elliott officiating
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Honors
