1929-2016
Gastonia – The Reverend Dr. Ralph Russell Dale, 87, went to be with Lord peacefully with his family surrounding him on September 25, 2016 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.
He was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1929 to the late Louie and Katie Dale. He is preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Dale and sister Mary Williams.
Dr. Dale, or Pastor Dale as he was known by most, earned his doctorate in Christian Counseling Psychology at Carolina University of Theology. He was truly a "people person" who dedicated his life to helping others and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was a Minister for almost 60 years with the Assemblies of God, pioneering and helping pioneer several churches in Arkansas and North Carolina. He retired in 1994 from Gastonia First Assembly where he served as Minister of Pastoral Care.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served 7 ½ years and was stationed on the island of Okinawa during the Korean conflict.
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of 69 years, Ellen Trowbridge Dale, his son and daughter-in-law Marc and Cyndi Dale of Charlotte; many cousins, nieces and nephews; Countless others whose lives have been changed by God's power through Pastor Dale's lifelong ministry.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1st at Gastonia First Assembly of God, 777 South Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052. Military honors to follow by Gaston County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 and/or Gastonia First Assembly of God, 777 South Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
