Gastonia – Ralph William Carpenter, 92, went to be with his Lord Sunday, January 31, 2021. He was born in Lincoln County on May 21, 1928 to the late Odell and Gracie Mae Carpenter.
He is survived by two step daughters, Marilyn Crisp and Tilley Cox and husband Charles; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, James (Mickey) Carpenter and wife Anne; Larry Franklin Carpenter and a sister-in-law, Nancy Carpenter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sister, Brenda Thompson; brothers, Howard, Elsie and Joe Carpenter.
He resided the last three years at Alexandria Place in Gastonia. The family wishes to thank the staff for their compassion and loving care of Ralph.
A private Celebration of Life Service for family will be held on Thursday, February 4th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, face masks and social distancing will be required. If you feel the need to stay home, a card or phone call to the family will be appreciated.
Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity UMC, 1513 Florida Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28052.
