Gastonia –Peggy Rankin Moore Hayes, 81 passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County on November 26, 1935 to the late Sexton Glenn and Nora Leona Foster Rankin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Gene Moore, and her brothers, Bill and Mickey Rankin, sisters Geneva Lucas, Bobbie Nichols, Boot Lewis.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Stanley.
Peggy was supervisor of environmental services at Stanley Total Living for over 15 years. She enjoyed her time with the residents at Stanley Total Living. She also enjoyed decorating her home and working in her flower garden. Peggy was MOST PROUD of her family!! She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed!
Left to cherish her memories includes her loving husband of 16 years, James Hayes; her devoted daughter, Lynn Moore King Nichols and her husband Kenny; grandson, Matthew King and wife Nikki and a great grandson Garrett King.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 22nd at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 217 North Main Street, Stanley with Reverend Noel Sweezy officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Gardens, Cherry 4 section, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy., Mt. Holly with the releasing of the doves.
Pallbearers will be Matthew King, Kenny Nichols, Butch Bynum, Robbie Simpson, Reid Rollins and Jeff Moore.
