1949-2017
Bessemer City – Paul Monroe Rathbone, 68, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Haywood County to the late Faraday and Hazel Stiles Rathbone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Rathbone and grandchildren, T.J. and Cassie; brothers, Roy Lee, Jimmy and Ronnie Rathbone.
Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed! He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Paul was very much a "family man" his family was his world; he loved them all immensely. He enjoyed dirt track racing, sitting on the front porch and restoring his 1940 Ford Coupe. Paul retired from the FMC Lithium Plant after many years of dedicated service. He later worked for The Lane Construction Corporation (formerly Rea Contracting, LLC).
Left to cherish his memories includes his loving wife of 31 years, Donna Moss Rathbone, his children, Sonya Fox, Scott Daves (Candy), Kenneth Rathbone, Rebecca Sherbert, P.J. Rathbone, Jr., (Amy); Grandchildren, Amber, Josh, Justin, Stacey, Hayden, Tripp, Charley, Mayson, Keyme and Kelsey and great granddaughter Layla.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Fain officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Thornburg, Keith Stone, Tim Soles, Mike Wilkinson and Christopher Boys.
Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 2009 Puetts Chapel Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
