Paul Edward Blanton

Paul Edward Blanton, 86, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023 at Robin Johnson House surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Cleveland County on April 30, 1937 to the late Saul and Mamie Blanton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Paul was a true outdoorsman and sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and any outdoors activity. He also enjoyed racing dirt-bikes and riding motorcycles with his wife Carroll. Above all else his family was everything to him. His family was his world and he was affectionately known as “Popa” by his children and grandchildren. Paul had a great sense of humor and he leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Carroll Mize Blanton; son, Greg Paul Blanton; daughter, Marcia Jennifer Blanton; granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Dellinger (Mitch) and Melissa Ramsey (David); and his great-grandchildren, Harper Dellinger, Jameson Ramsey, and Jessi Ramsey.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday November 20, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Roger Overton officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the Garden of Gethsemane.
