Gastonia – Otis Emery Martin, 81, passed away on January 31, 2016 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in McDowell County, NC on July 18, 1934 to the late Annie Hagie and Grady Jason Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Bill, Arzola, Shelby, Margaret and Clarence.

Otis was a member of South Point Baptist Church of more than 40 years where he was very active during that time. He was known for his "green thumb" in his garden and he loved flowers. He loved to cook and made the best ribs ever! Otis never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with a smile. Otis was a veteran of the US Air Force and later worked in Textiles most of his life. He later worked at Food Lion after retirement. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be missed greatly!

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Simpson Martin; children; Michael Emery Martin (Tracy); Belinda Martin Finchum and grandson Joshua Emery Martin; and his main companion his dog "Rowdy"
Numerous nieces and nephews

Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4th at South Point Baptist Church, 124 Horsley Avenue, Belmont, NC with Dr. James C. Hilton officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Point Baptist Church, 124 Horsley Avenue, Belmont, NC 28012
and/or Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054

Interment will be private
