Cherryville- Norman Monroe Penley, Sr. 69, 7069 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. passed away peacefully May 7, 2011 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas.
He was a native of Gaston County, born July 26, 1941 to the late Louis Monroe and Mary Ozzie McElwaine Penley.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sheila Kirkpatrick, brother Jerry Penley, two grandchildren, Alfred Charles Dellinger III, and Ronnie Lee Underdown, Jr., son-in-law Ronnie Underdown.
Survivors include a son, Norman M. Penley Jr. and wife Gale, daughters Tammy Underdown, Loretta Dellinger and husband Bruce, brother Larry Current, sister Peggy Lamberth, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Norman at 2:00 pm, Wednesday May 11 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with the Revs. Michael and Brian Spargo officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home and others times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Penley Jr., 7069 Dallas Cherryville Hwy. Cherryville, NC 28021
Interment will follow immediately at Hollywood Cemetery.
